Roaming the Streets

Everett Tenebris walked through the shady alleyways of Muiderport. He wasn't sure if he was looking for friendly faces or someone who had something valuable.

Ada sat on a tall barrel in an alley, knowing that no one would be able to see her petit frame unless they were looking for her. Here eyes glanced around, a playful light in them. She was in the mood to steal, and had been disappointed for the past few hours that she had not seen anyone in these alleys. Ada was about to give up hope when she caught glance of a person; Everett. Ada recognized him from her station, but had never personally talked to him before.

Everett crouched into a corner, waiting for someone to walk by. He flipped his pocketknife into his hand and waited.

Ada watched him, curiosity written on her face. What is he doing? she wondered to herself as she slipped down from her birdpost and crept towards him.

Everett thought he heard a sound behind him and looked around while staying in the shadows. A man walked by while he was distracted, and he cursed under his breath.

A soft giggle escaped from Ada's lips as she watched Everett, her smile flashing in the shadows where she stood. She didn't know what had caused Everett to turn in her direction, but she stopped walking in case he had heard her.

He was almost positive he heard something that time, but then put away his knife and climbed onto the roof. He wanted a better angle on whoever he'd go after.

Ada watched Everett as he climbed to the roof, jumping away quickly to keep him from passing by her. She crouched down, watching him with a curious look on her face.

Everett watched a man walk by on the street, he sneaked up behind him and pulled out a small length of pipe. He hit him on the head, knocking him out and then drug him into an alleyway.

Ada flinched at the sound of metal contacting with flesh and grimaced as Everett dragged the man into the alley. "You know..." Ada commented, her voice softly wavering towards the boy as she watched him, "You could have been better at making sure no one saw you."

Although he was surprised, he pretended he wasn't. His nerves were strong, so it was pretty easy. " Anyone else who sees it around here won't care much; those who do can be next. " He responded coldly as he searched the man's pockets. "People know better than to roam the streets here alone, especially this part of Muiderport."

"Well, those you do find will not have anything valuable on them." Ada remarked, watching him with a small smirk on her face. She stepped out of the shadows, watching him. "They know better than to bring something with them when they are walking through the streets. No one is that stupid."

"Perhaps." He said. He then grinned in triumph as he pulled out a wallet. Then sighed in disappointment. "Nothing major, just 10 *insert currency here*."

"No shit." she commented, walking over to him, her eyes trained on the man. "Exactly how hard did you hit him?"

Everett looked at him. "He's still breathing... I think.." He said. A look of guilt came over him. He dropped down and felt for a heartbeat. "It's still there but it's pretty weak... " He said softly.

Ada sighed softly. "You're too strong for your own good, Everett..." she said, a frown on her lips. She crouched down beside him, a look of curiosity crossing her face as she studied the features of the man on the ground before them. "Maybe it isn't as bad as it appears..."

The man started to stir. Everett took the money out of the wallet and dropped it next to the man. "Let's go." He said urgently, climbing up onto the rooftop.

Ada nodded and quickly followed Everett up to the rooftop, casting a glance behind her at the man.

The man, after a moment or two, got up and began looking around. He didn't seem too confused though, since after a moment he saw his wallet, picked it up, found it empty and began cursing. Everett slinked away into the night.

Ada stayed by the edge of the rooftop, laying on her stomach. She peeked her head over the edge of it, her eyes trained on the man below her.

Eventually the curses turned to mutters and the man searched the area, but then left. Everett whispered, "We should go."

Ada slowly stood up, careful with her placement of her feet. She had learned the bad way that these roof tops weren't exactly safe. "Where to?" she asked him.
